I might try cutting up some cardboard to stick in between the sections to block the light from bleeding over, but have yet to figure out how to secure the cardboard so it doesn't just fall over and block the light entirely. Without a divider between the sections, the light bleeds over during the sequence (first light partly illuminates second panel, second light partly illuminates third), which makes it not as clear and sharp a sequence as I'd like. The only thing that I MIGHT could complain about is the lack of divider between the three 'blinkers' on the LED boards. The LEDs are really bright and work perfectly. If I can pull it and fix it quickly, she doesn't bother with screwing it up :lol: If it's not easy to remove, something will go wrong. I'm sure it would have been better to solder the wires together or use a butt connector, but my experience with Jane has taught me that I need to make everything VERY EASY to remove. I stuck a bullet connector on the end of each wire and put a female end on each wire coming out of the control panel. I then ziptied the two wires to the old factory wiring, which runs in a woven tube that I was not anxious to cut open. I also ran a ground wire partway up the car from the trunk area to the spot where the courtesy light sits on the interior quarter panel - I knew that there was a good ground there, so I just hooked it up there to avoid problems later. I then ran a power wire all the way up to the dash and spliced it into the cigarette lighter wire, since the LEDs need a constant 12V source apparently. The control panel even has a little button on it that allows you to switch between sequential and nonsequential lighting - apparently sequential taillights are illegal in some states? So, they made it nice and easy for you to avoid getting stopped for something silly like that by putting in the button.Īnyways, I started my project by pulling the sill plate, kick panel, and interior quarter panel. The kit is very nice and everything is explained really clearly in the instructions. It included the 2 LED boards, wiring harnesses, control panel, and splices.
